On Saturday Night Sh*t Chat, we shared a handful of the apps and games that Izzy loves to play and I said I would put it in a blog for ya’ll.. so…. here it is!
Izzy gets very little screen time purely because she gets bored really quickly and it’s just not really her thing. She will play or watch something for 10-15 minutes max and then she’s done. I’m not all that big on A LOT of screen time personally but these are the little Kids iPad Apps & Games she plays when she does! I’ve also included a few at the bottom of the list that she loved and has now grown out of.
Most of these apps are designed for older kids (in the 6-8 year range) however, if you’re happy to share screen time with your kiddo and help them out, then younger kids can definitely have a crack at them! All of these apps are available on the Apple app store but for android users, some of these might not be! BEFORE you download any of these apps, please make sure you read the compatibility notes on the app store to ensure that these apps will run correctly on your device.
*DISCLAIMER!* These apps won’t make your kid gifted!- you need a spray bottle for that!
We in no way endorse or act on behalf of the app mfg or Apples. While we have never personally had any issues with these apps, apps are downloaded at your own risk. We don’t offer application support services for these apps. If you do have any trouble with these apps, please contact the app mfg or iTunes directly. XO
Easy Music – Designed for kids aged 6-8 years
Easy Music is an awesome wee app that uses visually stimulating games to help kiddos recognise notes, pitch, rhythm and melodies. Izzy is really into music so this is has been one of her favourite apps to use over the last few months.
Crazy Gears- Designed for kids aged 6-8 years
Crazy Gears is a puzzle game where you have to connect parts to make a complete mechanical engine! It certainly helps kiddos engage their brain!
Kapu Bloom Tunes- Designed for kids aged 4-6
This is another one of Izzy’s fave music apps! Not only is it super cute but it uses music and painting to create melodies and tunes!
Go Noodle- Designed for kids aged 4-8
You can get Go Noodle as an app or use it through the website. The songs are catchy as fuck and get stuck in your head but it is a super cool app/website which encourages kids to move through music videos!
“Peanut butter in a cup, we sing this song to pump us up! Bang bang choo choo train……” Yep.
Busy Shapes- Designed for kids aged 4+
Busy shapes uses a series of visually and sensorially stimulating shape puzzles to keep the kiddos engaged!
Loopimal by Yatatoy- Designed for kids aged 5-8
I have to admit…. both Nick and I really enjoy this one. You can make endless musical creations with super cute animals by rearranging shapes. The animals are animated so they dance along to whatever tune your kiddo has come up with. Super visually stimulating!
Kids iPad Apps & Games that we loved but no longer use!
Endless Alphabet- Designed for kids aged 3-6
Endless Alphabet is still one of my favs! It uses these bloody cute monsters and puzzles to help with letter regonition, words and phonetical sounds! Seriously… hours of fun for kids young and old. Just a little FYI- L is my favourite sound!
Jolly Phonics Songs- Designed for kids aged 3+
Jolly Songs is by the folks at Jolly Phonics. Jolly Phonics uses songs to help teach the phonetical sounds of letters. You can also find them on Youtube by searching Jolly Phonics.
Alphabet Tracing Free- Designed for kids aged 3+
Alphabet Tracing Free is exactly that. It uses colouring and tracing to learn and write letters and numbers. It also has a few games such as memory that the kiddos can play! It is one that we used along side our Little Know It All writing cards to help build Izzy’s confidence in writing back up!
