Lego and building blocks are amazing for working on fine motor skills! Just by picking them up helps to strengthen those wee muscles in the hands and fingers! We do a fair bit of fine motor skills work with Iz because hers are a little below normal, this is where these wee LEGO Building Cards come in handy!
Fine motor skills are super important when it comes to doing a lot of things that involve the hands! Feeding yourself, zipping and buttoning things up, grasping objects as well as writing. By using LEGO and blocks for building, kiddos are strengthening those wee muscles in their hands and fingers.
Izzy LOVES constructing stuff with blocks, dominoes, anything that can be stacked and has done since she was quite young. She used to raid Nick’s box of LEGO and we’d be finding a trail of LEGO from the lounge right up the stairs and into her bedroom. Not so great when you’ve missed a piece and stand on it on the way to the loo at 3am!
A small box of lego and these LEGO Building cards are great to have on hand when the kids are in need of something to do and you need to keep them occupied for a few OR for a trip in the car. Izzy takes hers with her in a wee Sistema container and on the drive, she gets her building fix while making patterns and working on her fine motor skills! 3 birds…. and a few blocks and cards!
These LEGO building cards are built around the 4 point and 8 point pieces! They’re a bit more fiddly so she has to concentrate and work harder to put them all together!
I’ve popped in a blank version so you can colour them to match the pieces you have at home as well as a pre-coloured version so all you have to do is pick out the lego pieces and pop them in a container. If you’ve got a laminator at home, I highly suggest laminating them and they’ll last for ages.
There are 18 small activities so you should get at least 10 minutes to yourself before they’ve constructed them all!
